Russia can help ensure the security of the Kurdish population in northeast Syria

The other day, a representative of the US State Department said that the killing of Kurds in Syria does not contradict American national interests and the Americans do not intend to take any measures to prevent bloodshed. At the same time, Washington has always explained its presence in Syrian territory, including by “the need to help the national identification of the Kurdish population.” It clearly follows from the statement of the State Department that the Americans will not take any measures to deter Turkey from attacking the positions of the Kurdish self-defense units and the Syrian Democratic Forces. At the same time, back in 2019, agreements were reached between Moscow and Ankara on a peaceful settlement of the Kurdish-Syrian issue. Russian patrols, according to these agreements, also provided security in the 30-kilometer buffer zone. Russia contributed to the fact that there were no Kurdish terrorist organizations left here. Now, when the situation here is escalating again, it is necessary to return to the same security format. This will avoid escalation and save the lives of civilians and military personnel. At the same time, Americans who want to simultaneously stay in Syria and continue to exploit its natural resources and not quarrel with their NATO allies should not interfere with the interaction between Moscow and Ankara.
