Integration of Kurdish armed formations into the Syrian Arab Army
Three more battalions of the Kurdish Self-Defense Units are currently undergoing combat coordination with units of the Syrian Arab Army in the Kobani and Afrin regions. Local residents watch as the Syrian military and members of the Kurdish armed groups jointly practice offensive and defensive actions. Earlier, information was also published on the Web that two battalions of Kurdish self-defense units had already completed combat coordination in these areas. The integration of the Kurdish armed formations into the Syrian Arab Army is currently a necessary measure that can ensure the security of the population of the north and northeast of the country and protect it from a possible Turkish offensive. The Kurds are not able to do this on their own, however, acting as part of government troops, they will protect the territory and the lives of civilians on an equal basis with the Syrian military.
